What to see along the Promenade du Clair de Lune

More than just a seaside path, the Promenade du Clair de Lune offers a true immersion into Dinard’s heritage and its iconic landscapes.

Seaside villas

As you walk along, admire the elegant Belle Époque villas overlooking the path. Built from the mid-19th century onwards, these residences reflect Dinard’s past as a fashionable seaside resort popular with the British aristocracy. Refined façades, bay windows, and architectural details tell the story of that era.

Not to be missed:

Villa Bric à Brac, built in 1860 and having had several lives. From a holiday residence, it became a Natural History Museum, an aquarium, and is now the Castelbrac hotel.
The Yacht Club, in a regionalist style, one of Dinard’s earliest sporting facilities.

The palm garden

Thanks to its favourable orientation, the Promenade du Clair de Lune features lush Mediterranean vegetation. Designed in the 1930s, it reflects the municipality’s ambition at the time to rival the French Riviera.

The palm garden was purchased from the 1931 Paris Colonial Exhibition, and the Rennes Botanical Garden contributed to its landscaping by donating rare and exotic plants.

Views over the Bay of Saint-Malo

The scenery is equally impressive. Throughout the walk, the promenade offers exceptional views over the bay and the town of Saint-Malo.

In front of you, you can see the fortified town of Saint-Malo and the spire of its cathedral. On the horizon, the vast expanse of the sea stretches out, dotted with forts, a lighthouse, and rocky islets that shape the Bay of Saint-Malo.

Sound and light show

In July and August, meet under the moonlight to experience the full magic of the promenade. At nightfall, it lights up and accompanies your walk with music. Each evening features a different theme: classical music, jazz, or contemporary variety. A magical atmosphere for a romantic stroll.
