Dinard

Plage du Prieuré

Tucked away at the far end of the bay of the same name, across from Port Breton Park, it is the first major beach you come to upon entering Dinard after the Rance Dam.

Prieuré Beach offers a stunning view of Saint-Malo’s Old Town. When the tide goes out, an open-air pool allows you to swim without having to walk too far.

Prieuré Beach is bordered by a seawall that leads to an open-air pool at low tide and takes you along the coastal path to the Promenade du Clair de Lune. While you’re there, feel free to test your fitness on the free-access exercise equipment on the Esplanade facing the bay.

Lifeguards on duty in July and August.

Parking and beach access:
- Access by car: free parking on Rue de l’Isle Celée.
- Access by public transit: BreizhGo – Line 516, Prieuré stop. The bus stop is located across from the beach.
Easy access to the beach: few or no stairs. On the western side, an access ramp allows you to descend to the beach via stairs.

Pets:
Pets are allowed on Prieuré Beach from September 16 to June 14.

Exposure and swimming conditions:
Prieuré Beach is a large, north-facing beach with fine sand. Its location at the end of the bay provides it with good shelter from the wind. The water quality is rated “Excellent” by the Ministry of Health (2025).
Swimming is possible at high tide. At low tide, the sea recedes too far, so swimming is not possible. The Prieuré pool (an outdoor pool that fills with water at high tide) makes it easy to swim at low tide.
Finally, the beach is recommended for families because the slope is very gentle.
