Château de Combourg
The castle’s construction started at the 12th century in order to defend Dol’s cathedral and Brittany’s independence. French writer and politician François-René de Chateaubriand spend his childhood there.

Since then, Chateau de Combourg is still considered has “Romantism’s birthplace” in French literature. Entirely restored in 1876, it still belongs to the author’s descendent.
